Subtype Model. A subtype model is a representation of a general object type in the business domain, and of specialized subtypes which further extend the definition of this supertype.
The focus of the subtype model is an object type. Typically, this is the highest level supertype on the diagram, sometimes referred to as the "root." However, exceptions exist where there are multiple supertypes, and the focus of the model may be the subtype.
